Your Kia Rio (2012–2023) is a subcompact sedan — and in Los Angeles County there is always another buyer for one that runs. Skip the listing, the messages, and the no-shows: one intake, one clear offer, free pickup.
The offer we make is the offer you get for 7 days.*
The price holds as long as the vehicle, title, mileage, and condition match what you submitted. If hidden or unreported damage is found at pickup, we’ll make the adjustment and give you a counter-offer on the spot — and the decision is yours.

Common Rio problems we still buy
Engine oil consumption and stalling
Rio 1.6-liter engines appear in owner reports of oil consumption and, in related Kia and Hyundai applications, engine wear that can lead to knocking or stalling if oil runs low. Faced with internal engine repairs on an inexpensive car, owners typically sell rather than rebuild.
Catalytic converter overheating damage
Rios were included in recalls addressing catalytic converters that could overheat and be damaged by high exhaust temperatures, sometimes linked to engine control faults. Emissions-system repairs are a frequent final straw for owners of older, high-mileage Rios.
Ignition coil and misfire problems
Aging Rios commonly develop misfires from failing ignition coils and worn plugs, with rough running and check-engine lights. Repeat misfire repairs on a budget commuter often end in a decision to sell.
IVT transmission complaints on later models
Rios from 2020 onward use Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission, a CVT with owner reports of shuddering, hesitation, and early failure. A transmission replacement can rival the car's value, so sellers usually pass it on as-is.
Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.
How selling your Rio works here
01
Describe your car
Enter the VIN to auto-fill the year, make, and model — or skip it for now and enter those details yourself. The VIN is optional at intake and mandatory before booking.
02
Complete the condition page
Answer the same 12 condition questions our buyer checks at pickup. The condition page defaults to no issues — open the checklist only if something applies.
03
Review the next step
See the offer path and share your number for follow-up. Any later changes wait for admin review.
The Rio generations we buy
The third-generation UB Rio ran from 2012 to 2017 as a sedan and five-door hatchback with a direct-injected 1.6-liter engine. The fourth-generation YB car arrived for 2018 with a revised engine and, from 2020, a CVT, and Kia ended U.S. Rio sales after 2023.
Every Rio is front-wheel drive, in sedan or, on earlier generations, hatchback form. It was one of the least expensive new cars in America for years, so Los Angeles County examples are common as student, first-car, and delivery vehicles with high mileage.
What we buy — your Rio included
Japanese vehicles of any age — Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru hold up in Southern California, and we price them that way.
Fixable issues welcome — Battery, glass, panels, and exterior damage from the 12-point checklist — each priced in plainly.
Most 2010-and-newer cars — Sedans, SUVs, and vans from any maker, clean or with fixable issues.
Trucks of any age — Pickups are the top of our want list — working trucks, high-mileage trucks, Japanese trucks included.
Where the line is
We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:
No working key
Blown engine
Shot transmission
Major structural damage
Heavily stripped
Trash-filled or severely neglected
Rio seller questions
What Rio years do you buy?
We buy Kia Rio vehicles across the 2012–2023 range we commonly see, and we will look at older ones case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage Rio that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.
My Rio has engine oil consumption and stalling. Will you still buy it?
In most cases, yes — that is a known Rio issue and it is priced into the offer from the condition answers you submit, not discovered at pickup. Describe it honestly and the offer already reflects it.
Do you buy a Rio that failed smog?
Yes. Smog failure is one of the 12 condition answers, so the offer accounts for it up front. You do not need to pay for diagnosis, repairs, or a retest before pickup.
What happens on pickup day?
Our buyer checks the VIN, title, mileage, and the same condition items you submitted for your Rio. If everything matches, you sign the transfer paperwork, receive payment, and hand over the keys — and the tow is free in Los Angeles County.
